North Carolina Representative Debbie Clary will file for re-election on Monday, April 26th!

Rep. Debbie Clary will file for re-election to continue her work in the North Carolina General Assembly on Monday, April 26 th at noon. Clary currently serves as a part of the Republican leadership team as one of the Chairs of Appropriations.

“My priorities in the General Assembly have been to reduce wasteful government spending, therefore reducing the tax burden of working families. I do not support increasing taxes and have never voted to do so in the five terms that I have served. I signed a “Tax Pledge” of no new taxes ten years ago and have kept my word. During the years that I've served, I have sponsored and passed over $1.4 Billion in tax cuts to the working people of NC.

I have a firm belief that a “tax friendly” state will produce an economy in which business will be attracted; people will have jobs and prosper. While we are experiencing small gains in the recruitment of industry to Cleveland and Gaston Counties , there is still work to be done. We must continue to support education. An educated work force in a tax friendly state is the only thing that will assure us that North Carolinians will prosper and afford the quality of life they deserve.”

Rep. Clary not only runs for re-election as a strong conservative voice for District 110, but a caring voice! “My passion in Raleigh has been working on healthcare issues with a concentration in elder care and mental health issues. I've worked to develop better heath care options for seniors and a higher quality of care in all long term care. In 2002, Clary was presented with the Hero Award from the NC Home and Hospice Association and was the winner of the 2002 Dorthea Dix Mental Health Advocate of the year. I will continue to work in these and all areas pertaining to Health and Human Services.

Many know Clary for her work on Graduated Driver's License. “I was the chief sponsor of the Graduated Driver's Licensing system. I passed the bill in 1997 and am most proud today to tout the statistics. According to Dr. Rob Foss, the GDL young driver training system is saving 25 teen lives each year. This is my greatest reward for serving in the NC General Assembly and one of the reasons which I ask for your vote to enable me to continue. I appreciate the opportunity to continue representing Gaston and Cleveland Counties in Raleigh.
